Prusa i2 3D printer
These days 3D printers are commodities. In 2013 not so much, in the years leading to '13 I had scrounged together the electrical parts (in the cheapest manner possible) necessary to turn some steppers. This entailed making a ratsnet of a main board as well as trying my hand at SMD soldering for the first time (w/ a goodwill toaster oven) to great success. I then procured the threaded rods and printed parts from ebay as a kit to finish the printer. Felt pretty cool as the nerdy kid with my own 3D printer in the dorms. I have since replaced most of the electronics and have made a few minor mechanical upgrades to the machine. I still use it regularly today.
Sidelined Projects
RGB LED wall
Was going to build this to use as a large sign or music reactive display (still might do this). I already built one but it was a bit fragile for how big it was and how many times it needed to fold for storage.
